In many countries women are allowed to take maternity leave from their jobs during the first month after the birth of their baby. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? 20181013

Taking a baby break, in many countries of the world, is one of basic rights women deserve, which is empowered by laws. This, naturally, arouses the comparison between its merits and demerits over the public. From my perspective, this issue is definitely advantageous to the advances of our society.

On the one hand, there is no gainsaying that the maternity leave is conducive to both the mother’s and baby’s health. Primarily, as a common sense, the process of giving birth is of countless pain and even a certain level of risk. Females after that tough period certainly deserve a convalescence, during which their physical and mental health can be recovered effectively. Besides, undoubtedly it is the mother who is able to offer the best care to her baby, and thus the mother is supposed to stay with the new-born baby as long as possible. Before the baby was born, he or she was familiar with the voice of the mother, and that is why the voice of the mother can pacify the baby and make the baby feel safe.

On the other hand, some objectors to related laws stress that female job seekers and employees of childbearing age might be influenced negatively because of the right of taking the maternity leave. The reason is that the leave can, to a great extent, enhance the labor cost of the company and reduce the productivity of female employees. Nevertheless, authorities are capable of making some other laws to avoid the sexual prejudice in the job market. For instance, rejecting female job hunters of reproductive age or firing them only because of their age can be outlawed. Hence, with the relevant legal protection, females in the workplace can be treated equally as males.

In conclusion, according to the above analysis, this essay can readily come to the conclusion that advantages of this issue obviously outweigh its disadvantages.

Reports show that it is increasingly expensive to keep museums open to the public. Find the best ways to fund them (governments, business, or individuals) 20181020

Reports show that it is increasingly expensive to keep museums open to the public. Find the best way to fund them (governments, business, or individuals) 20181020

It is universally known that museums, regarded as public resources, are particularly multifunctional, educating the public, showing traditions and cultures, and providing workplaces for related researchers. Nevertheless, what people are supposed to know more about museums is how they can be effectively funded, since operating museums is usually quite costly. From my perspective, compared with being supported financially by businesses or individuals, governments should inevitably shoulder the most responsibilities for offering funding to museum maintenance.

Chiefly, once the funding provided by some profit organizations is utilized for running museums, commercializing those museums seems unavoidable. Under that circumstance, visitors to those museums might be bothered over and over again by some commercials while concentrating on some works of art or antiques. Worse still, some cultural or historical researches organized by those museums may be influenced negatively due to the fact that at that time only the commercial value of those researches can be stressed instead of their academic value. By contrast, governments always fund museums without any conditions, and governments are more likely to highlight the public attribute rather than operate them as money-making machines.

Additionally, private donations are always welcomed by museums, but this does not imply that museums can be run successfully completely relying on that. There are, actually, many uncertainties of financial support from individuals, for example, how much they can donate, and when they want to donate. On top of this, some donors in most cases tend to give their money to some famous museums other than small and less-known ones. By comparison, governments are more able to constantly aid museums and reasonably distribute the funding in order to make sure that all large-scaled, small-sized, well-known or unfamous museums can be appropriately subsidized.

In conclusion, due to the above analysis, without a shadow of a doubt, funding from governments is certainly the best way to maintain museums.

Some people think that young people should spend more of their free time at home with their families, and spend less time entertaining outside. Others disagree. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. 20181027

Most young people may feel shilly-shally on the Saturday night with wavering between accompanying their family at home and having fun with their friends in a pub or cinema. Unluckily, the majority of them will choose the latter one, which might be what they will regret when they become parents. This essay will clearly and specifically analyze why those young people tend to choose the wrong answer.

The most popular excuse that the young like to find is that hanging out with their friends is an effective way for them to extend their social network. In their mind, a pub or Karaoke can be seen as the place where they can socialize with their friends and network with new people. In most cases, those entertainment venues are, actually, where those young people merely meet some fair weather friends. Those so-called friends are who young people can only share happiness with, but not who can help them overcome any difficulties in their lives. By contrast, family members are who can forever offer those youngsters solid support no matter what happens. That is why they deserve more company from the youth.

Another “convincing” argument that young people often hold is that they are living under huge pressure from their study or work and consequently they badly need relaxation. They, apparently, regard entertaining themselves with their friends outside the most effective way for them to unwind. This can easily be proved wrong since their home is always the most comfortable harbor where they can do whatever they want to loosen up their bodies and the quietest tree hole where they can speak out all hardships and dissatisfaction they got. Family members are certainly the best listeners and helpers who can comfort them and give them the guide and light of lives.

On balance, for most young people, sitting in a sofa at home with their parents is a choice with wisdom to spend the weekends instead of having a blast with their friends outside.
